Our Approach

Meaningful therapy begins with understanding the whole person, which includes their experiences, strengths, challenges, relationships, and hopes for the future. Our approach is grounded in building a therapeutic relationship where you feel seen, respected, supported, and empowered throughout your growth and change.

Individualized

While we may work with individuals experiencing similar concerns, such as depression or dealing with external pressures, we recognize that no two people experience those concerns in exactly the same way.  We consider each person's unique circumstances, strengths, and needs to individualize treatment and meet you where you are.

Evidence-Based

We believe in providing treatment that is effective and helps you move toward the goals that matter to you. That is why  we draw on research and established clinical practices to guide treatment decisions, while adapting those practices to your individual needs, circumstances, goals, and intersectionality.

Integrative

We recognize that people and environments are complex, with interconnected and co-occurring needs that cannot always be addressed through a single modality or technique. Rather than staying within one theoretical framework,  we integrate multiple therapeutic approaches and perspectives to develop treatment that aligns with each client's presenting concerns, personal values, and treatment goals.

Collaborative

We believe you are the expert on your life, while we bring expertise in psychotherapy and the therapeutic process.  We view therapy as a partnership, where we work together to identify meaningful goals, explore what may be getting in the way, and support you in taking ownership of your growth and the change process.

Trauma-Informed

We believe trauma-informed care should be a foundation of a therapeutic practice, not a privilege reserved for those who disclose or identify with experiences of trauma.  We approach every client with an emphasis on physical, emotional, and psychological safety, while fostering trust, empowerment, and choice throughout the therapeutic process.

Culturally Adept

We recognize that intersecting identities shape how we move through life, experience distress, seek and understand healing, and adjust to mental health needs.  We remain committed to examining our perspectives and biases, considering how structural factors affect our clients' lives, and adapting our therapeutic approaches to honor each client's cultural identity and lived experience.

Strengths-Based

We believe everyone has strengths and resources to draw on, even when they are hard to recognize. We understand that some behaviors that are no longer serving us may have once helped us cope, adapt, or survive. Rather than focusing only on problems and needs, we help clients recognize, build upon, and draw strengths from the resources they already possess.

You deserve a therapeutic experience that sees the whole you!

Meet Your Therapist

Natasha Smith

I bring both professional training and lived experience to the therapeutic process. Having navigated many of the struggles I help my clients work through, I show up with compassion, understanding, and hope.

Throughout my life, I found meaning in being someone others can turn to when they need help. When high school friends trusted me with vulnerable and painful experiences, I learned at a young age how powerful it can be to have someone who listens with compassion and without judgment, and helps you feel less alone in those private, painful moments we sometimes carry through life. Those feelings stayed with me and ultimately led me to become a social worker and a therapist.

Today, I bring those same qualities of compassion, presence, and understanding to my work, along with years of professional training, clinical experience, and knowledge of practical tools to help you translate the work we do in therapy into changes you can feel and see in your everyday life.
